A social robot takes over the task of educating children instead of teachers

In a kindergarten in the Chilean capital, Santiago, children interact with a robot or robot (Sima), the first "social" robot developed in Latin America to encourage learning.

The device, developed by mechanical engineer Felipe Araya along with other experts, seeks to enhance the teacher's work with this amazing tool for children.

Sima robot developer, Philip Araya, said: “We used all the techniques of mechatronics, artificial intelligence and the ability to understand language, and put it in the smartphone, along with a robotic body that has eight degrees of freedom of movement.”

Waseema is a social, educational robot that is able to interact in a natural way with its users. Sima does not respond only verbally but through facial expressions and physical gestures and this is what enhances the whole part of communication and also mimics the ability of humans to communicate.

More than ten prototypes that were tested at the beginning before the current models that are able to develop learning and interact better with children are tested.

Children are born now with technology around them, and to be able to teach them through a robot, it will be more fun and they will learn faster,” said Zmina Laba, director of the Dolos Club Center.

The robot's developer, Sima, Virginia Diaz, said: "Children can ask questions to the robot as many times as they like. Different learning speeds are provided according to the different needs of children in the classroom."

In addition to the Chilean capital, the Sima robot is used in several other cities, where the robot is sold to various educational institutions, and after more than two thousand hours of testing in Chilean classrooms, the Sima Robotics Company seeks to spread the robot in Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico and other countries. other.
