Abu Dhabi - A new report revealed an upcoming “patent” for Apple, which enables its “MacBook” mobile computer to charge all its second devices, such as the iPhone, iPad, and iWatch.
A pair of patents granted to Apple by the US Patent and Trademark Office will allow it to do bi-directional charging, or “reverse charging,” according to a report from Patently Apple, the company’s news website.
The charging process will take place by placing an Apple device, such as an iPhone, on the palm rest of a “MacBook” computer.
The idea behind this patent is to allow someone to top up their iPhone, while working on their laptop, if they forget their charging cable.
Reverse wireless charging is already available on a number of Android devices, although the technology is still in its infancy and is an extremely low power solution.
MacBooks are not currently compatible with wireless charging technology, because they are made of aluminum, which will prompt Apple to redesign its devices with the new charging technology.
It is expected that charging via a laptop will be a way to slightly increase the charging of phones, and it will not be very practical because the energy that the computer will provide is not comparable to the energy of regular electricity. (Sky News Arabia)
