Leaking important information about Turkish defense industries

She pointed out that the investigation launched by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Ankara regarding the leaking of information related to national projects in the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Naval Forces, in exchange for money, has been completed.

She pointed out that in addition to Yusuf Hakan Ozbilgin, who was the project manager at the Defense Industries Corporation in 2018, and who heads the spy cell, the authorities arrested four other people.

She added that Emreh Alp Durmaz is one of the four other detainees, whose family has deep ties and affiliations, and his father is Mohammed Durmaz, who holds British citizenship and is known for his close cooperation with the Israeli occupation for a long time.

The newspaper pointed out that Muhammad Durmaz appeared in the case of modernizing the Turkish "M60" tanks, as the "IMI" company represented by Durmaz was handed over the task of modernizing 170 tanks during the era of the Bulent Ecevit government, as the tender saved the Israeli company from bankruptcy.

Fears of transferring confidential information to Israel

And she continued, that the arrest of Muhammad Durmaz's son, who has deep ties, is part of concerns about whether classified information stolen from the defense industries had gone to "Israel".

She pointed out that the authorities seized a total of 12 million euros in the possession of the spy cell, of which 4.5 million were with Yusuf Hakan Ozbilgin.

She stated that according to the audio recordings, Ozbilgin studied the Durmaz company's tender file with the Presidency of Defense Industries, and directed it to complete the shortcomings before the tender in exchange for funds.

Ozbilgin claimed that nearly 1.5 million euros, which were found in his home, belonged to suspect Emre Alp Durmaz.

Ozbilgin transfers confidential information and defense industry projects to companies

The Haberturk newspaper reported a few days ago that the indictment against Ozbilgin included the transfer of information about projects and tenders for the Defense Industries Corporation, in addition to information about combat and non-combat drones to company managers.

She indicated that Ozbilgin had leaked information about military projects belonging to institutions such as "Asil San", "Tusas" and projects related to the Air Force to companies in exchange for financial benefits.

The leak included information about tenders related to helicopter projects, warships and weapons systems in Turkish companies, as well as combat and non-combat drones. The memorandum included correspondence between Ozbilgin with the owner of a company, Mustafa Seri Akin, and one of the company's employees, Emre Ozluk.

The indictment indicated that Colonel Murat Ali Gomez, one of the accused, who held the position of deputy head of the Air Systems Department in the Technical Department of the Turkish Naval Forces, used his powers in order to obtain information about secret projects.

And Gomez's squadron provided detailed information about the supplies of helicopters to the Navy, radar systems, countries that are dealt with in the production of helicopters, and the locations of the attack helicopters, to the accused Emre Ozluk, an official in the "AKTEM" company.
